このお祭(まつ)りでは、色(いろ)とりどりの竹(たけ)のボールに飾(かざ)りをつけて、街中(まちじゅう)を華(はな)やかに飾(かざ)ります。
People decorate colorful bamboo ornaments all around the city.
飾(かざ)りには、短冊(たんざく)や紙(かみ)の星(ほし)、折(お)り紙(がみ)などが使(つか)われます。
The decorations include paper strips for wishes (tanzaku), paper stars, and origami.
七夕(たなばた)祭(まつ)りは、短冊(たんざく)に願(ねが)いごとを書(か)いて、願(ねが)いをかなえるためのイベントでもあります。
Tanabata is also an event where people write wishes on tanzaku to make them come true.
多(おお)くの人(ひと)が七夕(たなばた)祭(まつ)りに参加(さんか)して、賑(にぎ)やかな雰囲気(ふんいき)を楽(たの)しみます。
Many people join the festival and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

🎌 七夕(たなばた)ってなに？（What is Tanabata?）
七夕(たなばた)は、**日本の伝統的(でんとうてき)**な行事(ぎょうじ)です。
Tanabata is a traditional Japanese event.
おりひめとひこぼしという星(ほし)の物語(ものがたり)がもとになっています。
It’s based on a story of two stars, Orihime and Hikoboshi.
年(ねん)に一度(いちど)、7月(しちがつ)7日(なのか)に会(あ)えるというロマンチックなお話(はなし)です。
They can meet only once a year on July 7 — it’s a romantic story.
仙台では、ひと月(つき)遅(おく)れの8月7日ごろに行(おこな)われます。
In Sendai, the festival is held about one month later, around August 7.
これは、昔(むかし)のカレンダーに合わせているからです。
This follows the old lunar calendar.
